Call to action The Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities is regarded as one of the milestones in open access and was issued during October 2003. Through this declaration, international research, scientific, and cultural institutions, declared their intent to promote the Internet as a medium for disseminating global knowledge.
